♥ Carnevale in Venezia!!! ♥

♥ The 2025 Venice Carnival’s theme was “In the time of Casanova” and how appropriate to dedicate it to the one and only Giacomo Casanova…legendary Italian adventurer and lover of women, upon the 300 year anniversary of his birth! ♥
♥ Long on my “I want to go list” but always hesitating or finding a “reason” not to, last fall when I was in Venice for other museums and sites, I decided to book a room and make 2025 a real possibility. When the time came to make a definitive choice, to say “si” or “no”, I decided to go all in with a resounding “si”!!
♥ Ignoring “opinions” and naysayers, I went because I always wanted to and decided I would enjoy it – crowds or no crowds, rain or shine – and I did…and I LOVED IT!! ♥
♥ The photos really say it all but was so delightful was the spirit of Carnevale that was in the air everywhere! Everyone could participate in any way they chose or just enjoy the ambiance…from kitsch to exquisite, one could find a variety of masks and Carnival memorabilia. I loved seeing the lighthearted spirit and camaraderie of all ages enjoy the revelry.
♥ Of course, there are the fancy balls and events one could attend if invited or wanted to pay for but for the rest of us, Piazza San Marco was “center stage”! Elaborately costumed visitors strolled and posed showing off their marvelous and fanciful fashions – so much creativity! The Carnevale spirit was everywhere – music, street performers, and other free entertainment and merrymaking for all ages in neighborhood campi.

♥ WOW! Mozzafiato! Meraviglioso! Favoloso! Absolutely spectacular costumes! Extraordinary and so imaginative! And just so much fun to join in the spirit of Carnevale! ♥
