The Beauty of Being Here: Impressionists of Normandy in Florence!

In 1874, the first exhibition of who were to be referred to as the Impressionists was held in Paris.

Today, until May 4th, if you are in or coming to Florence, you have the opportunity to visit a marvelous exhibit of over 70 of their works at the Ospedale degli Innocenti including Monet, Bonnard, Corot, Courbet and more!

I have long loved the Impressionists (and post-Impressionists) so any opportunity to see their works is not to be missed! And, needless to say, I didn’t miss this exhibit!

Immersed in the vibrant colors of Normandy…

“The exhibition ‘Impressionists of Normandy’ focuses primarily on the heritage of the Peindre en Normandie Collection…one of the most representative collections of the Impressionist period-alongside loans from the Musée d’art moderne of Le Havre and private collections.”

The world though the rich prism of the Impressionists

The beauty of Normandy takes center stage as we are transported back to leisurely walks by the sea, perhaps a picnic and dip, the pleasures of a relaxing day or holiday…as well as dreamy seascapes and panoramas which have been captured for us to enjoy today.

The pleasures of life by the sea…

You will be enchanted not only by the works of Monet, Courbet Renoir and Delacroix, but by contemporaries whose masterworks also transport us  to the delightful “dazzling natural setting with vibrant colors and sparkling landscapes” of Normandy.
