Pursuing Passion! Past Tense, Future Tense!
“Riflessioni” was the theme of a spectacular multi-media light show in Florence over the holidays and it asked: where have we been? where are we going? As it turned out I found this to be the perfect title and theme for my “new years” post…
I decided to take a look at where I had been (“past tense”) and looking forward (“future tense”) and taking you with me…

The overriding theme for me in 2021? What do you do when you’re in Italy, “COVID” rules and restrictions change weekly… plus, your clients couldn’t/wouldn’t come (yet!)??
Well, you do what you can when you can and, for me, that meant taking a deeper dive into my passion for all things Italian – for the culture I so love…including the museums and historical sites, as well as meeting more locals, and learning and experiencing more of the lifestyle and, of course, the pleasure of sharing with you!
Hence, two series of posts evolved and were published over the past year:

Needless to day, I found both to be extremely rewarding and enriching. And, yes, I will definitely continue to share about both in ’22.
Of course, it’s impossible to encapsulate a year but at the heart of all of the many incredibly experiences and moments is, undoubtedly, gratitude.

Past Tense…
I shared back in October about My First Year Living in Italy – What I’ve Learned (So Far!)…and I can’t say much has changed (except it’s certainly colder and, oh yeah, there’s another annoying “variant” testing our resolve).
As I reflect on 2021, a year that was certainly challenging for everyone, I was still able to connect to my new “place” and pursue and write about my passions in hopes of inspiring YOU to keep those “dolce vita” dreams alive!
As soon as it was possible, I started to plan my own little adventures…not only to nearby Chianti country and around Tuscany (Arezzo, Lucca, Pisa, Viareggio) but to Lecce, Venice, Rome and Bologna.

And as I selected photos to share, it was like reliving all of the incredible places and people I spent time with and it brought back to many unforgettable moments and memories…
And I’m determined to make many more in 2022…

Future Tense…
Yes, of course, I’m very aware of what’s happening with COVID, variants, upticks, and all of the related headlines and constantly shifting restrictions, rules, etc. And, of course, I do take these into consideration not only in my own planning but most assuredly in advising you.
I still “plan” and am working on my own 2022 “list”, remaining stubbornly optimistic while staying abreast of the constantly changing travel landscape. Of course, I remain very flexible but at the top of my priorities is welcoming my clients that have been waiting (some for two years) to enjoy the fabulous itineraries we have planned together as well as design and create new custom itineraries for YOU!
Yes, I encourage making plans while keeping a close watch on trends, ensuring that there is flexibility, and always working with your best interests as top priority. That is why, as your boots on the ground here in the boot, I am here and partner with local destination experts so that you always have real time information!
Whether you’re a single, couple, family, friends, or your small group, after conferring with you and learning your priorities (and budget!), we (my local travel experts and I) then discuss, strategize, design, create, advise and propose what we believe will be your “dolce vita” dream trip! We are with you at every step to assist, plan to ensure that every detail of your vacation is seamless.
