Ahh, Florence…Where There is Always More!
I’m not sure how many times I have been to Florence but I am sure that I never tire of her. A city like no other, birthplace of the Renaissance, bursting with artistic treasures, and the shopping!!
Being here is always a magical experience and, once again, I am captivated, fascinated, enamored, and, si, inspired!
Since I have visited the most well-known of the museums here (such as the Ufizzi, Academia, Bargello, and Galileo), I chose to either return to or visit a few new.
One of my favorite museums anywhere is the fabulous “New” Opera del Duomo Museum. Opera means works and this museum holds the original treasures of Santa Maria del Fiore, the iconic symbol of Florence…
Masterpieces by Donatello, di Camaino, di Cambio, Ghiberti, Pisano, della Robbia and so many others…
The stunning “Silver Altar” depicting the life of St. John the Baptist, patron saint of Florence…
The museum provides several “touchable replicas” – truly an incredibly moving experience for me !
The next two museum visits were for the first time and, both of which, I would highly recommend.
Leonardo da Vinci Museo is fascinating and a tribute to the remarkable genius of da Vinci. It is particularly compelling because they have created actual life-size models of many of his inventions! Too many to list! And his remarkable anatomy drawings and paintings are reproduced…
The other “must” in my opinion is the Museo degli Innocenti which tells the touching story of this old hospital that became an orphanage in the 15th century where a parent or parents, unable to keep or care for their infant, could place him/her through the opening, often including a note with their name and a keepsake in hopes of someday reuniting…
Truly, a story of sacrifice and compassion…

As much as I love museums, strolling and exploring Firenze is always pure delight! Fashion forward and stylish…and some touches of whimsy…
Wish You Were Here!? ❤️
I know that I’m inspired… aren’t you?
Where do I love to stay when I’m in Florence?
On the Oltrarno with my friends, Federico & Francesca at Palazzo Belfiore or Palazzo San Niccolò –
And when you mention “Victoria” you will receive a special welcome!
Not only are they featured as ExpertZ in my book but they can assist you with authentic local experiences, insider tips and recommendations!
I can promise that you will love it here!!
