♥ A Very Special Spring in Florence ♥
If you’re fortunate enough to live in or near Florence or you are planning on being here in spring, there are even more incredible ways to enjoy this extraordinarily beautiful city!
Florence will be in “bloom” and several museums have singular once-in-a-lifetime exhibits opening!
For me, that’s the beauty of “being here” and you’re invited to visit and delight in…
♦ Florence in Bloom ♦
Florence celebrates artistry in all forms and that includes the artistry of Mother Nature! With spring, Florence literally blooms and Florence in Bloom is divine!
Last spring as soon as I could (since COVID restrictions were tight), I was visiting several of the exceptional giardini of Florence: the Boboli, Bardini, Iris and Rose.
All are worthy of a leisurely stroll and enjoying a delight for all of the senses…not to mention the views!
Read more about Blooming Florence in my blog post and, even you can’t join us this spring, enjoy a virtual bouquet!

♦ Special Exhibits in the “Cradle of the Renaissance”! ♦
♦ The Accademia Gallery (Galleria dell’Accademia)
Of course, you’re visiting the Accademia! It’s the home of Michelangelo’s David and it’s simply not to be missed!
And now through June 19 there is a very special exhibit: “The Bronze Portraits of Michelangelo by Daniele de Volterra”.
On display for the first time, all the bronze busts of Michelangelo attributed to Daniele Volterra, on loan from various international museums, are exhibited together!
Dates: February 15 – June 19, 2022

♦ Museum of Opera of Saint Maria of Fiore/Duomo (Museo dell’Opera di Santa Maria del Fiore)
No, it isn’t about opera (the musical kind)! Opera means “works” and the museums that house “opera” of a monument are museums that exhibit its works.
In this case it’s the original works of Florence’s Duomo, Santa Maria del Fiore. It is one of my very favorite museums here in Florence and I have visited several times and now there’s another reason to return!
“For the first time, Michelangelo’s three masterpiece Pietà sculptures will be exhibited together at the Museo Opera del Duomo in Florence.
The exhibition will comprise of the newly-restored original Bandini Pietà, from Florence’s cathedral museum, along with the casts of the Pietà in St Peter’s and the Rondanini Pietà from the Vatican Museums.”
Dates: February 24 – August 1, 2022

♦ Palazzo Strozzi and The Bargello
As if all of that wasn’t enough, the Palazzo Strozzi and The Bargello Museum have collaborated on an exhibit honoring the the great Donatello:
“Starting from 19 March 2022, the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and the Musei del Bargello will be hosting Donatello, The Renaissance. This historic, once-in-a-lifetime exhibition sets out to reconstruct the outstanding career of one of the most important and influential masters of Italian art of any age, juxtaposing his work with masterpieces by other Italian Renaissance masters such as Brunelleschi, Masaccio, Andrea Mantegna, Giovanni Bellini, Raphael and Michelangelo.”
Dates: March 19 – July 31, 2022

The blooms are fabulous! How incredible for you to be there and have the opportunity to see all these wonderful exhibits. I envy you that! We keep dreaming! Hope all is well…
Phyllis & Joe,
Yes, exquisite! Those were from last year at the Rose Garden – all of the gardens were lovely! And the exhibits, yes! Very grateful to “be here”! I’m actually heading to Rome in a few weeks to immerse in more art and exhibits there (especially before tourism is in full swing).
Hoping your dreams materialize SOOON!
