I have shared my decision to really kick start a new chapter on a personal and professional level, and how I took the plunge and just did it!
“Why?” It was indeed, time both personally and professionally, to make the leap. Personally to pursue a long time dream and professionally, I decided that the best way to convince you to join me in Italy was to be in Italy!
My plan was (and continues to be) to explore new possibilities with my fabulous Friends of Victoria and continuing to meet and make new Friends. (Of course, all of this started pre-pandemic!)
Since October, 2020, my “story” has continued here in the “cradle of the Renaissance”, Florence, Italy…

♦ Joining Me Virtually…for Now!
For the past six months I have been your “boots on the ground in the boot!” sharing about my life here in Florence via blog posts, e-newsletters and on social media. I would be remiss if I didn’t express my gratitude and, honestly, amazement at how many of you are “joining me”, commenting and expressing your support. To you, my heartfelt thanks!
Now, looking forward to the next six months…yes, I’m staying at least another six more months…after all, I have so much more to see and do here!
♦ While We Wait…
Yes, as of the publication of this page, we are still in a holding pattern here. As I write, the situation has improved dramatically in many places and the Italian government is very determined to flatten the curve, and edge toward safety opening by late spring and summer 2021 for tourism. I’m cautiously optimistic and fingers crossed to be able to visit other regions myself soon and to welcome you next spring (2022)!
The statistics say it all; the majority of you are itching and ready to travel! Yes, you want to travel, as soon as…well, as soon as what? It all depends on who you talk to!
The first “hurdle” (vaccinations and herd immunity) is in progress and making headway, the COVID cases are dropping and the curve is flattening. Then, how to safely open borders? Testing? Quarantines? Protocols need to be put in place. And, then, of course, the question of how to bring back tourism with prudent and reasonable safety procedures to avoid future surges? In other words, when will we all feel ready and safe to travel?
So many questions without answers. Yes, it is frustrating. discouraging, even downright depressing… but wait we must. We are getting closer and now is not the time to be hasty. We must muster up the patience, adhere to restrictions, stay safe and healthy, and hang on to and nurture those hopes and dreams!

All you have to do is to keep that dream of coming to Italy and embarking on your trip of a lifetime fresh, alive, exciting! Better yet, put 2022 on your radar!!!
