What I Miss About Italy…
For the past week, I have been sharing memories. Memories captured in photos and blog posts written over the past eight years of blogging about Italy (although I have been traveling to Italy for much longer!).
The theme is “Until I can return…” I truly hold dear and precious every moment and experience. Some are private, some are shared with guests who joined me on my tours, many are with those whom I have become close and ever so wonderful colleagues and friends.
In every instance, recalling these memories and experiences evokes intense feelings of love and gratitude. I know that there will be many more but, for now, allow me to reminisce…
♥ The Face of Italy
Written five years ago, I reflected on what is truly the most beautiful thing about beautiful Italy…its warm and wonderful people and an homage to my own Italian roots...

♥ Laundry Day Italian Style
I have always loved taking photos of laundry in Italy! Dancing in the wind, basking in the warm sun…it was and remains a poignant reminder of seeing my own Mother hanging our laundry and, sometimes, my Dad hurriedly rescuing it from a sudden shower…

♥ The Scoop on Gelato
Who doesn’t LOVE gelato? Well, I do and I miss it, too! No, no…not ice cream...gelato!!! I’m definitely “sweet on Italy” and decided to write about this delicious treat a few years ago…

♥ Venice at Sunset – the Stuff of Dreams!
Ever since I first stepped out of the train station in Venice, I have been completely enchanted and under the spell of la Serenissima... the Serene One.
And that fascination has never wanted. During one of my visits almost five years ago I captured her at sunset, tramonto, a breathtaking, never-to-be-forgotten trip down the Grand Canal…

♥ In Search of Salvo in Sicily…Montalbano, Of Course!
I became an avid fan of Inspector Montalbano back in 2007. I read every new novel and eagerly awaited each new adventure penned by Andrea Camilleri. When the Italian TV series came to the US, I was on cloud nine!
Visiting some of the filming locations for the first time in 2017 was great fun and when I returned in 2018 to revisit with my private tour group…well, we didn’t find him but we loved trying!

Over the next few weeks I will be sharing more memories from my travels.
Si, of course, we will travel again and Italy will be waiting for us with open arms!
♥ Italy’s Siren Song ♥ “Ti aspettiamo”…”We wait for you…”
♥ While We Wait to Return to Italy ♥
I would LOVE to hear from you! Won’t you share one of your favorite memories? Or, perhaps, where you would like to visit when we can travel again? When you’re ready, I will be here for you!

Just let me say…we are pining for Italy…and like you, NEED to return! What is it about laundry pictures…Joe does them all the time! We missed each other this time…maybe next trip!
Si… it’s a deep yearning and a little bit of a heart ache.
Well, as far as the laundry, if you read my intro and the post you’ll know that it was an intimate part of my childhood and growing up, so when I see laundry hanging I’m take him back to those days but it’s also a source of fascination because the Italians are really so private and hanging your laundry is so intimate. It tells you so much about who lives there, their story or at least a story that you could invent!
I think we’re destined to see each other on a future trip and not at an airport! 🇮🇹😊🍷🍷
