♦ Si, a whole week in Venice! The magical la Serenissima, the “Serene One”! ♦
Once I was finally able to move about to other regions here in Italy the first destination on my list was definitely Venice! I started with planning for four days, then five, then…why not a week? The first time I was able to make that decision and the first time I wasn’t on someone else’s agenda! What a luxury!
I created my own itinerary and, as I always do, I planned/booked for specific sites/museums that were my first priority, reached out to a handful of friends I hoped to visit and reconnect with and then…just time to be spontaneous…to explore, stroll, savor and immerse with Venice. What a delightful companion she is!
All in all I took almost 1,000 photos! Venice, for me, is mesmerizing and an endless delight of photo opportunities! So incredibly photogenic, she loves all of the attention and is, unabashedly, a show off!
I decided to “encapsulate” my fabulous week with a “scrapbook” of sorts – a “photo diary”. I hope you enjoy it!
♦
My first full day was the sheer joy of being back…revisiting some of the familiar and enjoying a fairly empty Venice! (Unheard of!)
♦
I couldn’t wait to revisit the breathtaking Tintoretto masterpieces of La Scuola Grande di San Rocco and then a first, the Basilica of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and glorious she is…
♦
A superb collection of Venetian Renaissance masters awaits at the Gallerie dell’Accademia including Veronese, Titian, Tiepolo, Bellini, Giorgione, Tintoretto, Canova, Canaletto…
♦
The splendid Doges Palace! Opulent, ornate, lavish…proud!
♦
The Ponte dei Sospiri…Bridge of Sighs. Ah, the view…yes, I sighed…
♦
Intimate strolls and meanderings…and pausing for an aperitivo now and then!
…I can hardly wait to return and go deeper with you!

Grazie Marisa (Venetian Dreams), Marco (Eredi Jovon), Ilaria (Prontopia), Alain & Paolo (Londra Palace Hotel), Monica (Cook in Venice), Lorenzo (Ottica Urbani), and the fabulous management and staff of Hotel Al Codega – Lorenzo & Andrea, Michele, and their wonderful staff!

Such wonderful photos of a special trip! Glad you enjoyed it!
Grazie! It was actually difficult to choose from the almost 1,000 that I took but it was such a pleasure to be there, take them and share them!
You certainly had a busy week!
It may seem that way but, for me, it was full and fulfilling! Already thinking about the next time!
